JOB DESCRIPTION

The Contracts and Purchasing Manager is responsible for the complete management of the contracts and purchasing lifecycle, from the preconstruction phase through to project close-out. He liaises between suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams, ensuring that the required goods and services are procured efficiently, on time, on budget, and to quality standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

Contract management :

  • Prepare, negotiate and administer contracts for mining construction projects.
  • Ensure that contracts comply with internal policies and applicable regulations.
  • Manage contractual changes and disputes in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Monitor contract performance and ensure that contractual conditions are met.

Purchasing :

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for mining projects.
  • Identify and select suppliers, negotiate purchasing conditions, and establish commercial agreements.
  • Manage the tendering, bid evaluation and contract award processes.
  • Monitor supplier performance and manage relationships to ensure reliable supply.

Risk management :

  • Identify potential contractual and procurement risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with project teams to anticipate and resolve contract and purchasing issues.

Stakeholder management :

  • Collaborate with legal, financial and technical teams to ensure alignment of contracting and procurement activities with project objectives.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication with customers, suppliers and internal teams.

REQUIRED EXPERTISE

RequiredqualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or related field.
Experience in contract and purchasing management in the construction sector, ideally in the mining industry (7 years) Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage priorities in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
In-depth knowledge of purchasing and supply chain processes.
Good skills with MS Office suite, as well as contract and purchasing management tools. Assets Bilingualism (French and English) Leadership and ability to work in a team Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Strong analytical skills Knowledge of regulations specific to the mining industry Experience in international projects or multicultural environments.
